The Business-in-a-Box programme provides small grants of up to $20,000 per participating enterprise for business development projects (BDPs). These projects are designed to develop and test a replicable model and standard procedures for entrepreneurs to upgrade rural water points and operate mini-grids as a social business model. This catalytic funding can be used to test new business approaches (e.g., pre-financing piped connections) or optimize operations (e.g., efficiency investments to reduce cost drivers and move towards unit profitability). These initiatives help increase the viability and/or impact of your enterprise. The goal is to use the funding to validate and improve your upgrading/piped water model as a basis to attract new impact funding or growth investments.

Throughout Module 4, we will support you in developing a proposal that clearly outlines how the catalytic funds will be used to further develop and test/pilot your upgrading/piped water model.
